You Can Teach An Old Event New Tricks.....continued
As a client have you ever visited the events pound and walked along the corridor of abandoned gala dinners and homeless conferences, thinking 'yes this is a brilliant idea, i'd love to have an event but they are a lot of commitment and I just don't know if i'll get what I need from it'? Well Wired would like to officially say that any event can roll over and deliver what you want it to, it just has to be trained in the right way.
We were recently tasked with producing the cliché of all events... The Murder Mystery. Yawn yawn yawn we hear you say but actually our creative methods turned this stereotyped event on its head and gave it the injection of excitement and uniqueness it needed.
We created a tailor made activity that was based solely on our guests, this consisted of a client focused plot and a business message based narrative which were used as the back bone of the 1920s themed drama that was executed via live interactive theatre. Pulling up outside the grandeur of the mid-19th century stately home, guests were thrown into the jazz era as they were greeted by the Lady of the house who welcomed them to her charity garden party with a glass of fizz. Throughout the venue we immersed our guests in 1920s interior, props and dressing as well as food and drink to create a believable world back in time. We did not restrict our guests to their dinner table whilst they had to shift through piles of paper work but encouraged them to explore the house, interact with the characters, hunt for evidence and piece clues together whilst taking on the physical role of the detective - and for those who did not want to take part, absolutely fine, they could sample the elderflower collins cocktails and quails egg canapés in the setting of the pretty garden party complete with parasols, floral table cloths and a dessert trolley to die for.
The key to giving this worn concept a fresh feel was to make it bespoke and relevant to our client. The entire night was designed around them, incorporating messages that kept the evening consistent with the rest of the conference that they were attending during the day, whilst allowing them to relax and have fun with their colleagues. We did not meet their expectations of what a murder mystery is, instead we showed them what a murder mystery can be. All the characters were named after the leading companies in their industry and in the end it was discovered that it was the competitor ‘who did it’ which was a result not only for the detectives but for Wired too.
So come on, challenge us, we will give your gala dinner a good home and make sure your conference is well fed - bet you could never get them to do a trick before?
