Manchester United Customer Experience

Brief

DHL UK wanted to hold an event to thank their key northern-based clients. Following their recent sponsorship deal with Manchester United, DHL were keen to leverage this asset for the event.

Solution

Wired wanted to make the event as engaging and interactive as possible for the guests. By designing and building the ecard invite, followed by collating the 150 RSVPs, Wired were able to manage the guests’ entire experience from accommodation and travel to activities across the entire weekend. The guests’ journey started with a guided tour of Old Trafford before they entered the event space where they were greeted with a glass of champagne. Divided into two, the first space was washed with red lighting and filled with sleek white lounge furniture. Set to the side of the room was a bespoke built club shop from which guests could get a complimentary Manchester United top printed with their initials.

The evening started with Bryan Robson and Gary Neville who took to the stage to speak about their time at the football club. Shortly afterwards they were joined by the first team of Manchester United, at this point guests had the opportunity to not only receive autographs and photos but to play against the players at table tennis, FIFA and a light reaction game. The meet and greet session was completed by Sir Alex Ferguson taking to the stage to answer questions. For the rest of the evening guests entered the second half of the venue space for a sit down dinner, dressed with yellow lighting for a different feel, where the launch of DHL’s new above the line campaign ‘The Speed of Yellow’ could be celebrated. 

The following morning, for those that wanted to, a Rugby World Cup screening room was set-up for the England game at 6:30am, complete with a 3m x 3m screen, comfy sofas, and breakfast. For those who were not as into rugby, a pamper area complete with massages and manicures was available. The guests’ weekend experience was completed with hospitality tickets to the Manchester United v Chelsea game.

Results

DHL UK were extremely pleased with the creative approach Wired took to this event which gave the guests a unique experience across the entire weekend. All guests were looked after from beginning to end allowing DHL UK to network with their clients.
